The Yue King Goujian Sword is a bronze artifact from the late Spring and Autumn period of the Yue Kingdom, a first-class cultural relic in China. It was unearthed in 1965 from Tomb No. 1 of the Wangshan Chu Tomb Group in Jiangling County, Hubei Province. The following is a detailed introduction to it:
Basic information
Blade dimensions: The sword is 55.7 centimeters long, the handle is 8.4 centimeters long, the sword is 4.6 centimeters wide, and weighs 875 grams.
Inscription on Sword Body: Two lines of bird seal script are engraved on one side of the sword body near the blade, with a total of eight characters: “King Yue, Jiuqian, used from Zha”. After expert verification, “Jiuqian” refers to Goujian, confirming that this sword was used by King Yue, Goujian.
Cultural Relic Grade: After being unearthed in 1965, the sword of King Goujian of Yue was rated as a first-class cultural relic in China due to its extremely high historical, cultural, and artistic value. On August 19, 2013, it was included in the “Third Batch of Prohibited Exhibition Cultural Relics Catalogue”.
Appearance design
Sword head: It is in the shape of a disc, rolled outward into a circular hoop shape, and cast with 11 concentric circles spaced only 0.2 millimeters apart. The craftsmanship is extremely exquisite.
